2016+ Camaro manual shifter went sloppy and won't return to center? Can you still move the shifter left and right even when it's in gear? Maybe you can't get into reverse?

Your Chevy Camaro transmission shift linkage bushings are worn. But there's good news. Instead of paying the dealer $2k to install a new shifter (parts 24045654 or 24288057), you can install these upgraded full metal camaro bushings in 1 hour or less!

  • Fits all 2016 - present i4 and v6 Camaros with a manual 6-speed paired to Tremec TR-3160 transmission.
  • Made from solid 6061-t6 aluminum for ultimate durability, corrosion protection, and performance. This metal is specially selected to be softer than the linkage frame, but still last the life of the shifter.
  • Can be installed in 1 hour or less!
  • Patent pending design - customized part for this specific solution
  • Direct replacement using existing transmission linkage hardware.
  • All bushings get an 8-point Quality Check to exact measurements before shipping
  • Updated design in July '24 to improve drop-in with fewer adjustments

Price includes USPS tracked shipping with insurance but excludes Florida resident sales tax.

Even if you choose to install a whole new shifter from GM, the problem will just re-occur until you replace the fragile stock bushings with this upgraded set. We also highly discourage any plastic knock-offs. Cheap plastic is what caused the problem! Plastic will stretch, crack, and you'll be back under the car in 4 months replacing it with our solid metal. Just do it right one time and save your time and money.

Great Product!!!

Count me as one of the satisfied Customer that saved $2K by purchasing this Shift Link Bushing for my 2017 2LT/RS 50th Anniversary Camaro!

I searched the internet looking for a solution for my "floppy" shifter and came across the post on the Camaro6 forum and the Full Metal Bushing solution. I was concerned I had a major transmission issue but fortunately it was just the bushing and the $100 solution.

Discovered the problem on a Saturday, researched over the same weekend, placed an order on Sunday, received my bushings on Friday, and did the install on Sunday. As others have recommended on this FMB's site and the YouTube videos, definitely research and know what you are dealing with.

I was originally going to take it to a shop but decided to do it myself as did not require any special tools, just patience and knowing what your had to do. I'll admit, reinstalling the clip on the passenger side was a bear and it took considerable time, but the results are excellent!

Prior to my shifter getting floppy, there was rattle/vibration/humming when I would place my hand on the shifter while the car was in motion. All along I thought I had to fix the shifter rattle set screen again but it happened to be the bushing and linkage disintegrating.

Highly recommend this product for anyone with a I4 or V6 Manual Transmission Camaro!!!

Exactly the fix for my car

Install was super easy and works better than the cheap factory part. Would buy again if I didn't think the part will now last the life of the vehicle. Thank you for the fast shipping too!

2016 Camaro Shift Linkage Bushings

Bushings work great after install, but this install is not for the faint of heart. I recommend using a lift.
1) I had to remove probably 1/16" from bushing heads (with a file) for shift fork to clear trans shaft. This took me many tries and climbing back and forth from under the car as I had it on ramps. That's why I'm given them 3 stars.
2) Couldn't install passenger side clip on pin after putting everything back together. Went to local Chevy dealer and they charged me $150 bucks as they removed the trans support to install the clip.
3) Not sure what the tolerance stack up between the Trans shaft and the Fork/bushings but I think this something that needs to be looked at. Seems others have had this same problem.

Hi Dennis,
Thank you for your purchase and glad to hear you got these installed and back on the road enjoying your shifting! Nothing pleases us more than avoiding to buy a new shifter for $300 and $1,600 labor to drop the exhaust, tunnel brace, drive shaft, shifter, among other components. No doubt a new shifter install for many people will result in some slashed interior trim.

We understand there may be instances requiring a hair-width of sanding/filing. This is due to the variability in diameter of GM's connecting rod fork. Their manfuacturing tolerance is questionable. We considered reducing our bushing thickness but this would make others have more slack. It's easier to take a hair off than for a customer to fiddle with washers, to ensure a very tight fit. The tight squeeze is what makes the snappy gear shifter returns to center and a sporty feel. We also prefer a 1-piece design for long-term durability and the bushing can be sanded with common 410 grit paper from any store. But yes, this we can understand a gripe.

Understanding the concern of the bushing thickness, we disagree with dinging us for installation. Well over 100 vehicles have this product installed and majority completed it in their driveways. The c-clip can be rotated and inserted with fingers to start it. Start with the back first, not the driver side. Long needle nose pliers are another helper. We'd personally rather spend $100 on assistance tools than to pay someone else $150 one-time. But we provide our contact information and would have helped walk through it as well, including alternative options. For anyone reading this in the future, please use the contact info. That's why it's there!

We hope there is recogition it was your choice at the end of the day to use a Chevy dealership to secure the c-clip. Since 2021 they've inflated their labor rates, hurting all of us working-class folks. Don't let them trick you into thinking the support is a big deal. It's 90 seconds on an air gun. With that said, we always recommended in the instructions and video to take it to a local shop from the start if uncomfortable with these projects or if you have very thick arms or mobility issues. Most shops will fully install end-to-end for 1 hour labor without you having to lift a finger. Some customers locate the shop first, show them the video/pictures, and then they agree to do it for $100 while you sip a coffee in the lobby.

Once again, we thank all of our customers for their trust in us and to date we've prevented over $205,000 from going into GM's executive pockets. This is the cost difference they would have charged for new shifter installs, when all it needed was the bushings!

Good bushing, fixed sloppy shifter problem

These bushings worked exactly as advertised. They did require some grinding to make them fit flush on the shift fork. Had to lower the transmission to get back C clamp on. It was a harder install than anticipated but this is a good product.

Still unsure? Hear from one of our happy customers!

Old GM Bushings vs New Full Metal Bushings

"WoW. Very absolute perfect fit. Since I had trans and motor out for a rx-8 swap. Took me 5 minutes to remove, lube, and install these fantastic bushings. Thank you."
